Who is this tool designed for, and how can it be used?

This convenient, cost-effective tool is designed for anyone wishing to craft compelling copy for real estate listings. Copy Cat clients include freelance real estate copywriters, DIYers, independent realtors and large real estate agencies. The tool is also popular with agents whose second language is English.

Clients adapt the Copy Cat tool to suit their needs: some log-in regularly to search for that elusive phrase to describe an aspect of a property; others use the Copy Cat compiling tool religiously as a start-to-finish solution for creating engaging real estate ads.

All things considered, even if the Copy Cat Listing Generator contributes to only one additional sale per year – then, as our clients regularly attest, “It’s money well spent!”

Will The Copy Cat Phrase Finder tool write my listings for me?

Not automatically. Our real estate listing generator is capable of generating thousands of catchy real estate phrases to form the foundation of your real estate listings. And while it will do 95% of the work, it will not write the entire listing for you.

Fortunately, the Copy Cat team has done the heavy lifting to make these phrases available to you via an intuitive interface, however you’ll still need to become acquainted with the tool to scratch beneath the surface and reveal the gold that lies waiting. We believe that just as every home you list is unique, so too should your property description.

So, with a little bit of practice, like most of our longstanding clients, you’ll soon be producing real estate copy more efficiently – saving you time – and more effectively – contributing to additional sales. As a bonus, you’ll also become a much better writer!

If, on the other hand, you’re searching for a one-size-fits-all instant online solution that will produce impersonal, less imaginative real estate copy with the risk of sounding just like your competitors … well, the Copy Cat Real Estate Listing Generator probably isn’t for you!

Need real estate copy in a hurry?

Should you have a deadline looming, you can always use the Copy Cat’s Content ‘Quick Start’ Templates (view the screenshot below). Simply choose a relevant template from the dropdown list at the top of the compiling window and fill in the blanks.

Account management

How do I change plans?

To view your membership plan or to change membership plans, click on Manage Account in the top right corner of screen. Under My Memberships it will tell you which Level your membership is and the billing information. Click on the link ‘View all Membership Options’ and select the plan you wish to change to.

What do I do if I’ve forgotten my password?

Please click on the link that says ‘Lost your password?’ and enter your username or email address. A link will then be emailed, enabling you to reset it. If you are still having trouble accessing your account, please use the contact form.

How do I cancel my membership?

You may cancel your monthly or yearly membership at any time by logging into your account and clicking on ‘Manage Account’ in the top right corner of the screen. Go to My Memberships where you can either change your membership level or cancel your membership.

There are two cancellation options: 1/ Cancel future recurring payments but retain access to the tool for the duration of your current billing period; or 2/ Cancel your account – effective immediately. You should choose Option 02 if you are seeking a refund and meet eligibility criteria – please refer to our Terms & Conditions for more information. By selecting Option 2, you will immediately lose access to the Copy Cat tool and your Member’s Area. You would need to resubscribe to reinstate your privileges.

Is my subscription tax deductible?

Yes! To access past invoices, click on ‘Manage Account’ in the top right corner of your screen where they will be listed under ‘Past Invoices’. You can click on the date of each invoice to view and print.

Why was my subscription automatically renewed?

The Copy Cat membership plans are billed in advance on a monthly or yearly basis (depending on your selected billing preference) and renew automatically. To avoid having your account automatically renewed, you must cancel it before your renewal date.

What are the pros and cons of monthly vs annual billing?

Annual billing is a one-year commitment allowing you to pay one discounted and non-refundable payment rather than monthly payments. Annual plans can be downgraded or cancelled at any time. Downgraded plans will retain access to their plan features until the expiration of the one-year commitment; cancelled plans will be closed immediately and no partial refund will be applied.

Monthly billing is payable at the beginning of each monthly billing cycle. Monthly billing is not a discounted rate, but gives you the flexibility to modify your plan at any time. One change can be made per billing cycle, including switching to annual billing, which would take effect at the end of the monthly billing cycle, or upgrading or downgrading your plan type.

What methods of payment does The Copy Cat accept?

The Copy Cat accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and Paypal instant payments as methods of payment. To make payments from a bank account, connect the bank account to PayPal, and use PayPal as your primary method of payment.

We do not accept payment by check, debit, prepaid cards, wire transfers, or Paypal eCheck.

How does the proofreading option work (members)?

Members can send their work to the Copy Cat team for professional proofreading, at an additional cost. Simply log into The Copy Cat and create your listing. Click the ‘Proofreading’ button at the bottom of your screen and select ‘Send to Copy Cat’. This requires a one-time pre-payment of $10 USD for which you will receive a surface-level check that identifies misspellings, incorrect/missed punctuation, grammar errors, text and numerical inconsistencies and incorrect word usage. The Copy Cat editor may, depending on the length of the copy and whether time permits, suggest further improvements to the overall copy. There is a 24-hour turnaround for this service. If you subscribe to the Pro Multi or Agency plan you get an additional option of sending your copy internally. Simply click on ‘Send internally’ and select from your list of team members (team members can be added from the left menu). This will add the listing to the Proof Library and alert your selected team member, who can check your copy, make suggested changes and save. The author can then review the changes and select from three options ‘Accept’ the suggested changes, ‘Save with edits’, or ‘Revert’ to switch back to the original version.

How does the proofreading option work (non-members)?

From the bottom of our Real Estate Copywriting Services page, select ‘Post a Project’ and choose ‘Proofreading’ as your ‘Project type’. Complete the ‘Your details’ form to provide your name, email address, delivery deadline and language preference, and specify either a word count or character limit if required.

Attach a file with your copy by dropping it into the ‘File for Proofing’ box or clicking to upload. Once you’ve agreed to the Terms & Conditions you will be redirected for payment. This requires a one-time pre-payment of $15 USD (Members: $10 – view plans) for which you will receive a surface-level check that identifies misspellings, incorrect/missed punctuation, grammar errors, text and numerical inconsistencies and incorrect word usage. The Copy Cat editor may, depending on the length of the copy and whether time permits, suggest further improvements to the overall copy.

A word document displaying both the original and revised versions (with mark-ups) will be emailed back to you via the email address you provided in the ‘Your details’ section. There is a 24-hour turnaround for this service.

How does the real estate copywriting service work?

From the bottom of our Real Estate Copywriting Services page, select ‘Post a Project’ and choose ‘Real Estate Listing’ as your ‘Project type’. Complete the ‘Your details’ form to provide your name, email address, delivery deadline and language preference, and specify either a word count or character limit.  Enter the address of the property, select the property type, sale type and price range.  Upload a property appraisal form or complete our online version. Add property photos and floorplan, either by sharing a link or uploading.

Once you’ve agreed to the Terms and Conditions and clicked ‘Submit’ your project request will be sent to The Copy Cat and a real estate listing will be emailed to you via the email address provided on the ‘Your details’ form.  Turnaround time is 48 hours from submission of the project request.  A maximum of two revisions/edits are included in the project price. An invoice will be emailed to you and is payable upon satisfactory completion of the project.

To start from scratch, the best place to begin is with the ‘Intro and Linking’ search box that contains ‘beginning’, ‘middle’ and ‘end’ phrases
(TIP: Type ‘INTRO’ into this tool’s keyword search box to return only those phrases that are suitable for commencing your listing).

Searching using 'keywords' and/or categories and subcategories

Keywords are significant real estate words or phrases used to find information. A few simple examples: ‘large block’, ‘open plan’, ‘gourmet kitchen’, ‘Hampton style’, ‘sunny outlook’, ‘private’ etc. Before you begin searching it’s a good idea to brainstorm synonyms and combinations of descriptions. The right keywords will increase your chances of finding the most relevant real estate phrases for your copy. If you get too many results, try more or narrower keywords. If you get too few results, try using fewer or broader keywords.

Search for phrases using the “Search All’ option at top-right of screen by entering a keyword (will return all results in the database matched to that keyword), OR select appropriate search boxes beneath the Copy cat compiling window and use combinations of keywords and/or subcategories.

How to resolve the 'Failed - Please try again' message on saving or updating a listing

This error may appear when trying to ‘Save’ or ‘Update’ a listing that contains content pasted from another software program or website and/or content that contains unrecognised fonts and special characters (e.g. copyright symbols, fancy quotes, accents etc.). These are sometimes incompatible with the Copy Cat WYSIWYG editor.

To resolve this issue, firstly, we recommend you download a copy of the completed listing to avoid losing work. Use the ‘Download’ button. Then, close the listing, reopen it and cut and paste the content from your downloaded file (use ‘Ctrl + C’, ‘Ctrl + V’ for Windows, or ‘Command + C’, ‘Command + V’ for Mac) into the Copy Cat editing window. Try again to update/resave your listing – hopefully the problem will now be resolved.

If not, try these additional 3 steps (refer to the screenshot below):
Step 01: Highlight all of the text in your compiling window by choosing the ‘Select All’ button in the toolbar (alternatively use: ‘Ctrl + A’ for Windows devices, or ‘Command + A’ for Macs);
Step 02: Select the ‘Remove Format’ button from the Copy Cat toolbar. This will strip the problematic styling;
Step 03: If required, reformat your listing (e.g. apply bold, italics etc.) and select ‘SAVE’ or ‘UPDATE EXISTING’.

The problem should now be fixed! But, again, if not, please continue below the screenshot for more advice…

Unresolved?

If the issue persists, please ‘Download’ a copy of the edited listing via the ‘Save’ menu at the bottom of The Copy Cat tool (so at least any changes you’ve made will not be lost), and then please contact us asap using this: contact form and we will investigate promptly and report back to you.

Help - I'm locked out of my account!

If, after logging in you are redirected continuously to our plans page, there are two likely reasons:

1/ Your plan has expired, in which case you will need to choose a suitable plan to regain access to the Copy Cat tool (your settings and listings will be saved pending renewal), OR
2/ You have inadvertently cancelled your plan, which may not have been your intention (i.e. perhaps you were trying to cancel future automatic payments, but wished to retain access until the end of your billing period)…

If neither is relevant, or if option 2 applies, please CONTACT US with details of the lockout and we will assist you in any way we can. Most issues are easily and quickly resolved.

How do I upload my avatar?

After logging in, proceed to your MEMBER’S AREA

Follow the 3 steps outlined here (and also indicated in the image above):

  1. 1/ Select the “Choose File’ button
  2. 2/ Select ‘Upload’
  3. 3/ (IMPORTANT) From the bottom of the avatar panel, select ‘Update Profile’

TIP: Should your avatar already be visible on your member’s page upon your first visit, but does not appear within the Copy Cat tool or dashboard, simply locate or save the photo again to your hard drive, and repeat steps 1 – 3.

The issue should now be resolved.
